What strategies can I use to be a better reader? How can I better understand what I read?
Every day, in small groups, boys work closely with teachers to strengthen the building blocks of reading—sounds, patterns, and meaning. Over time, boys develop the confidence and fluency to not just read, but to understand and enjoy what’s on the page.

How can I monitor my comprehension of what I read?
While reading fiction and nonfiction at their level, boys learn to stay engaged and understand more deeply—pausing to notice what makes sense, and slowing down to look again when things don’t.

How do I select a book that matches my reading goal or interest?
Each week, boys head to the library with their reading groups, where the librarian introduces them to new authors, series, and genres. With guidance from their teachers, they learn to choose books that match what they’re curious about—and will help them grow as readers.
