Supporting Saint David’s

A school, a city, and an enduring belief in what boys can become.

Saint David’s reflects what defines New York City at its best: visionary, resilient, and optimistic. What began in 1951 with four students has grown into a thriving institution with more than 2,300 alumni.

Though the world has changed, our mission has held firm. The Four Pillars—academics, athletics, arts, and spirituality—remain the foundation of a Saint David’s education, shaping boys in mind, body, and spirit.

None of this would be possible without our community—volunteers who give their time, talent, and expertise, and donors whose generosity sustains the work and fuels the future. Because of you, Saint David’s has not only endured—it has grown stronger. Together, we carry forward a legacy of purpose and conviction, rooted in a simple aspiration: ut viri boni sint—that they be Good Men.

Funds

Annual Fund

Each year, the Annual Fund supports every boy, every teacher, and every program—bridging the gap between tuition and the true cost of a Saint David’s education. Gifts to the Annual Fund have an immediate impact, sustaining the daily work that defines our mission and shapes our boys.

Alumni Annual Fund

The Alumni Annual Fund is how Saint David’s graduates give back—and help carry the mission forward. Each gift, no matter the size, affirms the value of a Saint David’s education and supports the next generation of boys as they follow the path from good boys to good men.

Restricted Gift

Restricted gifts support a specific program, initiative, or capital project that aligns with the donor’s intention. Whether enhancing the arts, advancing faculty development, or funding scholarships, these gifts provide targeted impact—and lasting value.

Endowment

Endowment gifts are invested to support Saint David’s in perpetuity. Only the income is used—helping to secure the school’s future, preserve its mission, and provide for generations of boys to come.

How to Give

Qualified Charitable Donations

Individuals age 70½ and older can make Qualified Charitable Distributions (QCDs) of up to $105,000 per year directly from a taxable IRA to a qualified charitable organization—without counting the amount as taxable income. These gifts can also satisfy an individual’s required minimum distribution (RMD) for the year. We recommend consulting your tax advisor to understand the full impact of your gift under federal, state, and local laws.

Saint David’s gratefully accepts gifts of appreciated stock. These contributions can offer significant tax benefits and provide immediate support for the school.

Impact

Support for Saint David’s makes a lasting difference—in the lives of our students and in the daily rhythm of the school itself. Philanthropic gifts open doors for boys from a wide range of backgrounds and strengthen every part of the Saint David’s experience.

Supporting Student Experiences

Contributions fund overnight trips to places like Frost Valley, Washington, D.C., and Italy—formative journeys where boys build skills, deepen bonds, and broaden their view of the world. They help equip our athletics program, support more than 60 student performances each year, and enable partnerships with cultural and scientific leaders—like our recently introduced seventh-grade project with the Billion Oyster Project in New York Harbor.

Empowering Our Teachers

Gifts also fund professional development, including the 85 faculty research grants awarded this year. They keep alumni and families connected through events like the spring reunion and Thanksgiving Chapel. And through an endowment of 78 funds totaling $90 million, they sustain scholarships, programs, and faculty growth far into the future.
